"Points of Interest at Legacy Ranch"
As you may know, Merridoc is 31 years old (foaled May 4, 1977!) and is still eating carrots here on the ranch. He is well known around the Quarter Horse Circuit and most people think he is dead. Well, he bred two mares last year and we have already had inquiries on him for this year.....He's quite the old stud!!

Also "His Legacy" is a retired gelding that is still here and eating carrots and loving life. He won the California Cup Starter Handicap at Santa Anita two years in a row, the third year he came in second and came back the fourth year to win it again. His Legacy is 23 years old, he was foaled March 7, 1985!

"Griswold" is also a retired gelding and is "His Legacy's" best friend and paddock mate. Griswold is a Champion Quarter Horse that holds the track record at Los Alamitos and he also holds the World record at 870 yards at Los Alamitos Race Track in Cypress, California. He raced against the very fast thoroughbred "Valient Pete" in the first and only match race at Santa Anita. Valient Pete beat him at Santa Anita by a whisker but when they raced at Los Alamitos he was never able to beat Griswold again. Griswold beat his own world record twice and still holds it today. Griswold is 22 years old and was foaled April 8, 1986!.

As you can tell they love it here at Legacy Ranch and we love them too.

Legacy Ranch owners Pete and Evelyn Parrella in 2005 began a 4.5 acre vineyard in the southwest corner of the ranch. In early October 2008 the first harvest of Zinfandel, Barbera, Petite Sirah and Syrah grapes was accomplished. The wine is to be developed under the label "Legends and Vines".

The Legacy training staff has begun starting the highly anticipated first crop of yearlings by Our New Recruit. Using our training facilities and our expansive 5/8-mile training track to give them their early education, and to bring out their inherited ability, is one of our current tasks.
