(May 1, 2015) - "Jess Flying By" began her racing career in fashion, as the filly by champion Mr Jess Perry and out of 2010 champion 2-year-old filly Flying Fig, won her debut by 1 and a half lengths on Friday at Los Alamitos! Ridden by Tony Guymon for trainer Denny Ekins, Jess Flying By was first from the start from post number five. She led by three-quarters of a length early on and continued to open up from there. She came into the race after posting a first gate workout of: 12.80 on March 21 & again another impressive work:12.30 drill on April 9. Jess Flying By is eligible to compete in all three of the major Grade 1 futurities at Los Alamitos - the Ed Burke Million Futurity, the Golden State Million Futurity and the Los Alamtos Two Million Futurity. Jess Flying By covered the 300 yards in :15.785. Her dam, Flying Fig, enjoyed a great racing career. A winner of four races, Flying Fig finished in the money in 11 of 17 career starts. She earned $806,920 in her career, runner-up finishes in the Ed Burke Million Futurity, Golden State Million Futurity and Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity!
